Job summary
Editors of the Day (EOD) oversee the daily production and broadcasting of news items in each language on digital platforms and on TV, giving priority to the publication of information online. They lead and supervise the daily team of journalists from a language department to whom they assign stories to be covered and which they approve before publication.
They supervise live broadcasts, breaking news and push notifications and follow special events. They prepare and prioritize all rundowns and bulletins for broadcast. They are responsible for the quality and accuracy of news stories or multimedia content to be produced and published on all channels of the digital platform.
In a digital-first approach, the EOD is also responsible for Front Page Editing, SEO optimization and possible live blogs, in collaboration with his/her team.
The Editor of the Day (EOD), currently on assignment, reports to the Bureau Chief and News Editor-in-Chief (Brussels).
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality and accuracy of TV and digital content, he/she validates the productions published daily.
- Build the day's news coverage by selecting the topics to be covered online and on air
- Guarantee the coherence of the contents about the values and the positioning of Euronews on all platforms.
- In charge of the Front-Page Editing of the language service's website
- Edit and distribute the rundown of each bulletin, guaranteeing its duration
- Responsible for feeding the vertical scroll to enrich the channel and bring it closer to the digital world.
- Ensure push notifications are sent out quickly, accurately, and precisely.
- Coordinate breaking news situations based on available resources, processes, and tools (live blog, live on air, push notification.)
- Ensure performance of stories via audience and page view impact
- Writes news articles in the language of assignment, especially on weekends.
Your profile
- Education level required: 4/5 years’ higher education – journalism qualification or equivalent
- Language skills: Excellent command and professional practice of Polish (C2 level). Fluent English (C1 minimum level). Proficiency in French and any additional “Euronews” languages is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in news media (audio-visual, online).
- Broad general knowledge allowing him/her to cover a variety of topics.
- Mastery of news writing in its composition and tone.
- Very good digital culture and fluency in the use of technology and web design.
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Manages stress well in a fast-paced working environment.
- Solid understanding of Euronews' objectives and operations
- Adaptability and flexibility in the face of unforeseen challenges
- Fairness, respect, and motivation in leading and managing teams.
Contract information:
- Location: Warsaw
- Working hours: Full-time
- Flexibility required: 3 EOD shifts. Regular weekend work (teleworking); night work possible
- Contract start date: October 2024
