Position Summary:
A brand management expert, this role develops CEEMEA centric positions for all Discovery Network’s channel brands with an emphasis on AP CEEMEA, and leads in communicating them across the regions to both channel and commercial teams. Working closely with Programming, Scheduling and On-Air teams in the London corporate centre and in region, the role will act as a brand guardian, ensuring that the brand positioning is consistent and commercially relevant, with a view to creating flagship brands that increase distribution, viewership and advertising revenues.
Responsibilities:
• Work with local and central research teams to leverage audience insights (both consumer and business audiences) for commercial and editorial exploitation
• Working with Integrated Marcomms Director and AP Programme Planner to develop positioning & brand strategy for AP CEEMEA.
• Create dynamic presentations on the brands for internal and external use
• Take the lead in roll-out of brand positioning, and the training that may be required to embed it
• Work with local and central On Air, Marketing and Media Planning teams to ensure budget is spent effectively, with ROI analysis and that our creative is on brand and helps drive the affiliate and ad sales business
• Develop strategic messages that support our commercial teams, write briefs and oversee production of commercial pitches and sales reels
• Work closely with Brand Partnership teams to support revenue partnerships and ensure creative, on-brand solutions
• Work on ad hoc projects and business development initiatives as we seek to ensure our portfolio of channel brands are fully optimized
Additional Responsibilities
• Work within the matrix of corporate channel team and local teams to give input as the brand guardian on:
• Content – commissions, acquisition, etc
• Scheduling - to maximize ratings for key markets on pan regional feeds
• Strategies to drive efficient use of inventory and create pan regional stunts that grow ratings and drive brand awareness
• Digital development that cost-effectively grow the brands’ presence on platforms other than TV
Requirements:
• A commercial brand development background with 5 years plus of experience launching and repositioning brands ideally in media, or alternatively fmcg, retail or telcomms
• Sound product judgment and the ability to see the bigger commercial picture without forfeiting consumer benefits
• Experience in a CEEMEA local market or multi-cultural environment
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure, getting buy-in from various regions and departments
• Excellent communicator – able to distil information and communicate it to a team of varying skills and backgrounds.
• A multitasker who can work in a team as well as on their own.
• Excellent attention to detail
